The RFD-TV Theatre in Branson has made 2009 a year of unique and entertaining performances, featuring everything from a live production of High School Musical 2 to the Native American show Brule and American Indian Rock Opera. This theatre has several upcoming limited-engagement performances that are truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
On October 3, these two country music veterans will take the stage at RFD-TV Theatre for one night. Pam Tillis, the daughter of legend Mel Tillis, is a country star in her own right and has been entertaining audiences with original hits since the 1980s. Some of her most popular songs include “Maybe It Was Memphis” and “Shake The Sugar Tree.” John Anderson is also a country legend who has many hits under his belt. Audiences will enjoy his mellow voice as he sings some of his previous hits, which may include “Seminole Wind” and “Look Away.” This duo will only perform on one night, so do not miss out!

This duo of legendary country artists will take the stage for two weekends in October, the 9-10 and 16-17. Marty Stewart is an iconic performer that has many hits from his decades-long career in country music. Some of his popular songs include “Hillbilly Rock,” “If There Ain’t There Oughtta Be,” and “Too Much Month.” Connie Smith is a seasoned country musician and gospel singer who has also been on the scene for many years. Her hits include “Tiny Blue Transistor Radio,” “God Is Abundant,” and “Born To Sing.”
Brule and the American Indian Rock Opera
This show appeared earlier in the summer and was so popular that it was brought back for a limited time in November. This show is available during the first two weeks of November. This show features the vocal talent of Brule and the amazing dancing skills of the American Indian Rock Opera dance troupe. If you missed this entertaining show earlier in the summer, take advantage of the November show times and treat your family to an unforgettable performance!

Perhaps one of the most popular shows in the area, Country Tonite offers a two-hour comedy and live music show. The music of this show ranges from southern gospel classics to country favorites. Country Tonite has received numerous accolades, including being named “Best Show in the Smokies” and “Best Live Country Show in America.” Starting in November, you can enjoy the Country Tonite Christmas Show, which features the same amazing live performances of Christmas and country favorites. Enjoy a Wide Range of Music Festivals in Boston
Fall is the perfect time in New England to join together with fellow music lovers and take advantage of the musical festivals offered in Boston this fall.
Classic music lovers will love the free concerts of Septemberfest presented by the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This annual event features four free chamber music concerts performed by faculty and students of the Longy School. This year’s event is a tribute to musical master Haydn. All concerts take place at the Edward M. Pickman Concert Hall. Concert dates are September 18, 19, 25, and 26, and all concerts begin at 8 p.m. Although admission is free, tickets must be acquired ahead of time. Don’t miss this rare chance to experience these talented musicians for free!
This event is another annual Boston concert that draws visitors from all over. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the beginning of fall with song, and this year’s event is taking place on the evening of September 20. RiverSing features the Revels singers, Family Folk Chorale, the Halalisa Singers, and Sharing a New Song. The event begins with a parade from Harvard Square to the river. This year’s special guest is Stan Strickland, a saxophonist. This event is free and open to the public.
Hosted by the famed Berklee School of Music, this is the ninth year for the annual jazz festival. This year’s event takes place September 18 through 26. The jazz festival is an outdoor event that is one of the most popular outdoor gatherings in Boston. Nine stages are set up in Boston and Cambridge, and performances take place daily. Headline performers for this year’s festival include Berklee alum Branford Marsalis, Kurt Elling, Ahmad Jamal, and David Sanborn. A special family aspect of this event is the Target Family Park, which offers kid-friendly activities and entertainment. On Saturday, Sept. 26, free concerts will be featured all day with multiple stages on Columbus Avenue. From classic jazz artists to new artists, you will be sure to attend some memorable performances during this festival.

Enjoy Comedy and Drama in Vancouver, BC
Vancouver, British Columbia is home to a large arts community, which is why festivals and events can be found happening throughout the year. September is no different. Whether enjoying a relaxing Labor Day weekend vacation or planning a quick weekend trip to the area, there is sure to be an event to attend during your visit.
This 11-day festival celebrates theater and the arts. The festival runs from Sept. 9 to 20. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Fringe Festival. This year’s event offers more than 400 performances by over 65 different groups and individuals. There is no one particular location for the performances. Many of Vancouver’s theater venues are hosting performances, including the Granville Island Stage and Performance Works. In addition, some artists bring their own venue and set up a stage anywhere they choose, from on a boat to in a coffee shop.
Performers for this year’s event include groups from Vancouver, Canada, and International locations, including the United States and Europe. Each performer or group prepares a piece of their choice to present. Performances will be happening throughout the event, and there will also be a special opening gala on the first night in addition to closing ceremonies on the final day. Performers can also be awarded different prizes throughout the festival and are invited back for the “Pick of the Fringe” event.
Global ComedyFest in Vancouver
If you enjoy live performances that are not as serious as theater performances, the Global ComedyFest is for you. This annual event is taking place Sept. 17 to 27. Past acts at this event include comedians Zach Galifinakis and NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Performers at this year’s event include big-name comedians like Carol Burnett, Tom Arnold, Pauly Shore, Paul F. Tompkins, and Andy Dick. The headliner of this year’s event is Steve Martin, who will be the focus of a special evening event. Performances will be taking place around Vancouver, including LaffLines Comedy Club, Public Library Amphitheater, and the Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts.
Silver Dollar City Hosts Southern Gospel Picnic Days

It is time for Silver Dollar City’s annual Southern Gospel Picnic Days. Beginning on August 27 and running to September 7, this festival features hundreds of Southern Gospel performances, traditional Southern food, and all of the great rides and attractions you love at Silver Dollar City.
The highlight of this festival is the many Southern Gospel performers that are scheduled to appear. Guests include the Dove Brothers, Mike and Kelly Bowling, Jeff and Sherri Easter, and the Isaacs. Performances are scheduled daily, so there will always be someone to see.
Guests can also catch performances at Southern Gospel Nights at Echo Hollow. Concerts begin at 6 p.m. nightly in the Echo Hollow Amphitheater. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 6. Guests scheduled to perform these special concerts include The Ball Brothers, Mark Trammel Trio, and the Kingsmen.
In addition to attending performances during the day, guests can also enjoy some delicious traditional Southern cuisine. At “Chicken ‘n Fixins” buffet, guests can find Southern classics like smoked pulled pork, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, hot rolls, and fried chicken. Chicken ‘n Fixins is located in Molly’s Mill.
Another special activity during this festival is the Culinary and Craft School. The culinary school will be providing demonstrations and lessons on how to make dishes like grits, black-eyed peas, and classic casseroles. A small fee does apply for the culinary classes.
In addition to all of this, Silver Dollar City still has the thrilling rides and entertaining attractions that visitors love. Those who love big roller coasters will enjoy Wildfire, which offers multiple loops, and the PowderKeg. Silver Dollar City also has many family-friendly rides and attractions for smaller visitors. Silver Dollar City is also a great spot for shopping. From Christmas stores to traditional hand-crafted wood workings, any visitor can find something to enjoy.
Until Labor Day, visitors can also buy the “Play and Splash” ticket for admission to both Silver Dollar City and its sister water park, White Water. The combo ticket is good for two out of three consecutive days. White Water boasts towering slides on Kanai Towers, fun tube rides, a wave pool, and a lazy river. White Water is only open until Labor Day, however, so act now to get your tickets!

However, there is no stopping this legendary performer as she takes to the stage at The Coliseum at Caesars Palace for a spectacular show. Cher will perform many of her chart-topping songs, including “Believe,” “Turn Back Time,” and “Walking in Memphis.” In addition to the music, the performance includes 14 dancers as well as aerial artists. For the show, Cher commissioned famous designer Bob Mackie to design her stage clothes, so audiences can expect one-of-a-kind, spectacular pieces in addition to the great music.
