Summer is the perfect time to enjoy some of the unique events that Williamsburg has to offer. From family-friendly events to those to entertain history buffs, Williamsburg has something for everyone.

Both children and adults alike will enjoy the Sock Hop Nights at Busch Gardens. Free with regular admission, you and your family will be taken back to the 50s with retro shows evoking the carefree dancing scene of the era. Sock Hop Nights end on May 23, but Glory at the Garden begins on June 7. This event features nightly concerts from Contemporary Christian artists that are included in park admission. Busch Gardens is always a family-pleasing favorite with exciting rides and fun shows.

The Colonial Polo Cup at Shirley Plantation, the oldest plantation in Virgina, is a classic polo match sure to be an exciting, unique experience. Features include exploring the beautiful grounds of the plantation and participating in polo match traditions such as the “stomping of the divots.” Other event features are a tailgate party, a parade, and an afterparty with the players. The Colonial Polo Cup takes place May 23-25 in Charles City, VA, which is just a few miles outside of Williamsburg.

History buffs will love the Yorktown Civil War Weekend at the Yorktown National Battlefield on May 23-24. Whether you are a Yankee or a Confederate, this fun weekend event is sure to entertain, with features such as walking tours, military demonstrations, and Civil War music demonstrations. This Civil War Weekend will be the perfect Memorial Day weekend treat.
