National Memorial Day Concert in Washington DC

Each year PBS puts on the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington DC. This year, the event is held on May 30th. It’s open to the public, so everyone who wants to celebrate Memorial Day in special way is welcome to come to the event. Rising stars as well as internationally famous musicians will be a part of the event for you to enjoy. Each branch of the military will be featured in this event, so don’t miss your chance to honor them.

While you’re in Washington DC creating memories, take some pictures to help you remember every moment. Memorial Day Weekend gives you a three day weekend to relax. Why not spend your time relaxing in beautiful Chattanooga, TN? It’s a lovely area for sightseeing and outdoor adventures. Go kayaking in the Tennessee River Gorge Canyon and experience the wonder of the United Nation’s Biosphere Reserve with the Tennessee River Gorge Canyon Kayak Eco Tours Adventure. This activity will give you incredible views and encounters with endangered wildlife in the area. Home to 184 species of birds, 63 species of mammals, and 193 species of butterflies, this area has no shortage of sights for you to enjoy as you paddle along in your kayak.

For more nature experiences on your long weekend, visit the Chattanooga Nature Center. This nature center will have scenic trails for you to walk along and enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. As you walk, be on the lookout for the 30 native species of animal commonly found along the trails. You may see owls, turtles or even the endangered red wolf on your walk.

In the evening, enjoy some time indoors with the Murder Mystery Dinner Shows at Vaudeville Cafe. When you arrive at the theatre, you will get to meet the “suspects” who will greet you in character. Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC Pays Fitting Tribute to Fallen Soldiers

Memorial Day is a time where people have honored soldiers who died in the service since the Civil War. This year, what better place to pay tribute than Washington DC? On May 31st, Washington DC will be holding a parade that starts at 2 pm to give a salute to the veterans of war.  There will be talented marching bands, magnificent floats, and much more. In addition to the parade, there will also be a Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. 

With so much patriotism in the air, who could resist visiting several of the landmarks and historic sights in Washington DC? Take the Gettysburg Tour and see where the Gettysburg Address was given by Abraham Lincoln along with several other stops where you will see an entire history of the Battle of Gettysburg.
