Enter a world of authentic history on September 25 inside the fun Old Mill Square beside the Little Pigeon River, where visitors can celebrate the Gatlinburg – Pigeon Forge seventh annual Old Mill Heritage Day. While you’re here, you can shop at the Tanger Factory Outlet Malls, watch candy and bread being mixed and baked, or discover the process that pottery goes through. There enough history, culture, and artistic features here to satisfy the entire family. After you’ve toured the whole area, you can pick out lodging.

For those that would like a little extra historic value, you can see the Biltmore Estate Asheville, NC. This grand mansion was build back in the late 1800’s, and it features 175,000 square feet and 250 rooms. The self-guided tour also includes a look at the huge library which boasts over 10,000 books.

Another activity, the Titanic Pigeon Forge, Smoky Mountains, is an authentic museum that pulls visitors back to the early 1900’s. You’ll receive the true experience of a passenger onboard the “ship” with a ticket at the start of your walkthrough. The museum, shaped like the Titanic, is approximately half the size of the real ship, and it features the famous Grand Scale Staircase and even a communications center, where you can “SOS” neighboring rescue services.

Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales has been taking place during summer for the past five years in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee with over a dozen nightly acts from storytellers, artisans, and costumed musical performers that represent time periods as far back as the 1800s. In addition to the exciting acts, visitors can learn how instruments used in the acts are made as well as participate and view other wonderful activities. Gatlinburg will kick off the 4th of July with its 35th Annual Midnight Independence Day Parade at exactly 12:00 am Sunday, July 4th. Be there and get in on the fun when it all begins. This mile long parade features floats, helium balloons, marching bands, horseback riders, and military members. The parade isn’t the only event that will be taking place as a part of this celebration. There are also several free concerts taking place at both before and after the parade. The Rainforest Adventures Discovery Zoo has the distinction of being created by the same contractors who worked on Disney’s Animal Kingdom and features hundreds of indoor exhibits for you to explore. It’s always the perfect temperature inside, so this is a great activity no matter what time of year or type of weather you’re experiencing in Gatlinburg. A 25-foot jungle waterfall and an ancient ruins theme create an atmosphere of tropical mystery as you journey through the zoo. You will see venomous snakes, giant tortoises, ring-tailed lemurs, and much more in this exciting zoo.

Your next wildlife experience takes you to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. This aquarium has the unique feature of a tube that allows you to walk under a part of the aquarium.
