Incredible New Show Coming To Branson!

Acrobats of China Cast PreludeEvery year Branson unveils new or redesigned shows, which only adds to the excitement of the new production season. This year is no exception. While very few shows have undergone major redesigns, there is one new show coming to Branson that has the locals very excited.

Chun Yi – The Legend of Kung Fu is a show unlike any other in Branson. The story follows a young boy as he enters the life of a Buddhist monk. During the story, the young boy learns the skills of martial arts, is seduced by ego and illusions, leaves the pure life of the Buddhist monks behind, and eventually returns to assume the position his Master left to him. Chun Yi – The Legend of Kung Fu is a powerful tale of personal growth and the realization of physical and emotional harmony. Chun Yi – The Legend of Kung Fu is filled with fantastic acrobatic feats, displays of brilliantly choreographed martial arts, and emotion-filled dancing. Featureing a cast and crew of 80 talented performers, designers, and choreographers, this show is the longest running show in China and has been seen by more than two  million people. The Kung Fu practitioners have performed around the world, including a special performance during the Opening Ceremonies at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. This incredible show will be performing in the newly-acquired White House Theatre and is scheduled to open in May of 2010.

If you don’t want to wait until May, there is a similar show already in Branson. The Acrobats of China may not have quite as strong a story line, but the acrobatics are sure to please. The incredible aerial feats and awesome dance number will keep you satisfied until the new show arrives!

In Search of the Past: Restoring and Furnishing America’s Historic Sites

Westgate Historic WilliamsburgThe Williamsburg area plays host to some fascinating events throughout the year, and there is one in particular that you may want to check out. Hosted as a means to educate the public about the domestic life of yesteryear, the Annual Antiques Forum is once again visiting Williamsburg.

This year’s title is In Search of the Past: Restoring and Furnishing America’s Historic Sites. The goal is to help people understand the décor, furnishings, and everyday life of centuries gone by. There are always several workshops, demonstrations, and lectures for the public to attend. Some of the topics this year include ‘American Neoclassical Furniture’, ‘Preparing and Serving an 18th Century Meal’, and Dirty Dishes: Archeology, Ceramics, and Historic Interiors’.

The events are being held this year at the Williamsburg Lodge and the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum. There will also be tours available at local historic sites, including the Governor’s Palace. The Annual Antiques Forum will begin on January 4 and run through March 14. Whether you’re already going to be in the area or trying to choose a destination, the Annual Antique Forum in Williamsburg is the place to be!

There are a three hotels that you might consider for your stay, and the best part is all three are less than two miles away from the  DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum. The first is the Westgate Historic Williamsburg, which keeps you within minutes of all the major Williamsburg attractions. Second is the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Grand Ole Opry Welcomes 2010

Martina McBride at the Grand Ole Opry2009 is quickly coming to a close, which means many things for the Opry. If you’re wondering about what 2010 holds for this beloved country music show, you’re in luck. We’ve got the answers to all your questions.

The Radio City Spectacular Christmas show will close just prior to the new year, opening the Opry stage back up. Performances of the Grand Ole Opry will get to move back to home sweet home on the famous stage beginning in January. So if you’re planning on seeing the show in January, just remember that the performances have left Ryman Auditorium and moved home.

The schedule of the shows in 2010 will be the same as they have been in the past. A Tuesday show for the mid-weekly visitors is always a wonderful option. Also, the weekend shows will remain the same. Friday will host a 7 PM show, while Saturday hosts the 7 PM and 9:30 PM shows. Memphis Hosts 51st Liberty Bowl

Football StadiumIt’s that time of year again, and I’m not talking about Christmas. It’s Bowl season again! That’s right, college teams are heading off to play in the famous bowl games around the country. If you’re planning on visiting Memphis early in the new year, you should definitely make plans to attend the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

While 2009 was the 50th anniversary of the Liberty Bowl, the 2010 game promises to be a great one. The game is slated to begin at 4:30 on the afternoon of January 2. In keeping with tradition, the game will be played at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

The 51st Liberty Bowl is a showdown between the Razorbacks from the University of Arkansas and the East Carolina University Pirates. When the teams take their half-time break, the crowd will jam to the hits of Eddie Money as he takes the stage for a spectacular half-time performance.

The Razorbacks are led by head coach, Bobby Petrino, and quarterback Ryan Mallet. Their record is 7-5 overall with 3 wins in their conference. The Pirates area led by head coach, Skip Holtz, and quarterback Patrick Pinkney. The Pirates’ record is 9-4 overall.

If you’re planning on visiting Memphis for the Liberty Bowl, you should know that the stadium is only a few miles a way from Memphis International Airport. There are so many lodging options in the area, all of which will keep you close to the stadium, the airport, and a few of Memphis’ more famous attractions.
