The newly opened Madame Tussauds Hollywood Wax Museum is honoring the life and accomplishments of Michael Jackson with a brand-new wax figurine of the pop king. Jackson’s figure will be unveiled at a special event on August 27 at Madame Tussauds Hollywood. The Jackson exhibit includes his likeness in the wardrobe and style that was created for his London concert series that he was in the midst of preparing for. The figure cost approximately $300,000 to create.
The unveiling event begins at 11 a.m. with a Michael Jackson music marathon, hosted by a live DJ. The marathon includes live performances and moon-walking demonstrations. A special feature of the event for 250 lucky customers is the opportunity to be the first to take their picture with the figure and see the exhibit. The figure is set to be unveiled at 4 p.m.
Madame Tussauds Hollywood Wax Museum is located on Hollywood Boulevard next to Graumann’s Chinese Theater. The museum’s most recent figure unveiled was that of director Quentin Tarantino, and a figure of skateboard legend Tony Hawk was revealed before that. The museum features a range of figures, including movie directors, movie stars, sports stars, and music icons.

Grand Canyon Hosts Annual Music Festival
There are few venues as spectacular as the Grand Canyon in which to enjoy live music performances, which is why the Grand Canyon hosts an annual music festival. This year marks the 26th anniversary of the Grand Canyon Music Festival (GCMF).
The GCMF is scheduled for September 11 to 26. Concerts are scheduled for Sept. 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, and 26. Concerts take place at the Shrine of the Ages auditorium. Advance ticket purchases are recommended in the chance that performances become sold out. Each concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Performers scheduled for this year’s event include Ethel’s Truckstop, the Bonfiglio Group, the Enso String Quartet, and a special Founders and Friends concert. Performers cover a variety of genres, from classical rock to traditional classical music. In addition, three special free concerts will be given during the event. The School of Rock Student Concert is taking place on Thursday, Sept. 18; the Bonfiglio Group is giving a community concert on Friday, Sept. 19; and a NACAP concert will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20.
The Shrine of the Ages auditorium is located inside of the Grand Canyon National Park on the South Rim, making it easily accessible during your Grand Canyon vacation.
