Come and enjoy the fun as well as the history. Everyone is encouraged to dress in the style of the 1800s. Dress sharp, because there will be a costume contest! You can enjoy live music all day long as you take in the history. Food and drinks will be available. You will also be able to take a historical tour of Mount Vernon, Missouri. Fun and games will be galore with a seed spitting contest, sack races, a scarecrow building contest, a haystack treasure hunt, a horseshoe contest and much more. Enjoy a 60-minute tour with stops at Old Matt’s Cabin, Inspiration Point, Old Wright Church and Little Pete’s Cave. Inside the cabin, you will find numerous antiques and historical items, including furniture, photographs, tools, cooking utensils and much more. Then you can get a great look at Inspiration Tower, a 230-foot-tall lookout tower that was built in 1989 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Harold Bell Wright’s first visit to the Ozark Mountains. The tram will also make a stop at Inspiration Point for an unbelieveable view of the Ozark Mountains. You will also be able to see where Wright pitched his tent to write “The Shepherd of the Hills.” After visiting Inspiration Point, take at look at the quaint Wright Church, which resembles one that Harold Bell Wright preached in during his time in Kansas. Then take a look at the Old Mill Theatre, where you’ll get a closeup look at what it takes to produce a show. You’ll also get to tour Little Pete’s Cave, the Harold Bell Wright Museum and even have a chance to purchase a copy of the famous book!

For a hisorical feel of Branson’s entertainment indusry, check out the Baldknobbers Jamboree. Started in 1959 by the Mabe family, the Baldknobbers Jamboree was Branson’s very first show. Since the four original Mabe brothers began entertaining people on the Branson lakefront, their family legacy has grown to attract large crowds with its variety of country music and hilarious comedy.
