Visit America’s Past this Winter in Williamsburg, VA
While winter may have many popular vacation destinations shutting down for the winter, Williamsburg is not one of them. Year-round, visitors will find an authentic representation of Colonial America through a number of exhibits and performances. And whether you’ve never visited the area or are planning on making your annual voyage, below are a few can’t miss attractions in the area to help spark a few vacation ideas.
Colonial Williamsburg features an authentic representation of life in the Colonial states in the 18th century. With the pass you are able to come and go from the attractions many exhibits, featuring a well-rounded look at the daily happenings of our ancestors. Various performances are held throughout the day, with other attractions including DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, Revolutionary City, craft areas and more.
Much like Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement takes Williamsburg visitors into the Colonial era, though this attraction is more centrally focused on the actual settlement of Jamestown. Along with experiencing the history of Jamestown through film and galleries, you’ll also be able to walk through the re-created streets of the settlement, and even board replicas of the three ships that sailed to Virginia from England in 1607.
At Yorktown Victory Center guests will uncover many of the events that led to our independence from Britain. This living museum features a variety of interactive exhibits ranging from continental army encampments and wound treatment centers to typical gardens and food preparation exhibits.
