Olympic Venue TourAlthough the 2010 Winter Olympics are still months away, now is the perfect time to start planning your trip to British Columbia to take in the games. The athletes have been preparing for this event for years, and you only have a few months left to get ready! The Vancouver Winter Games takes place February 12 through 28. Primary Olympic Venues are found in Vancouver, Richmond, and Whistler.

Lodging in a prime Vancouver location will likely be hard to come by as the Games draw closer. Downtown Vancouver and Whistler offer the best locations to stay at that will provide proximity to many events and attractions of the Winter Games. Lodging in Downtown Vancouver will place you near many of the city’s popular entertainment attractions, as well as the David Lam Park, which will host many events for the Games. Whistler, BC also has many lodging options available, including upscale resorts and spacious condos for rent. The Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains will play host to many of the outdoor Olympic events.

If you cannot make it to Vancouver during the games but would still like the Olympic experience, the Vancouver Olympic Venue Tour will let you experience the Olympic facilities first hand. This guided tour takes visitors around Vancouver to the various Olympic sites, to Richmond to see the Richmond Olympic Oval, and to Mount Seymour, where many of the Olympic athletic events will take place. Sights on this tour include Vancouver Olympic Centre, UBC Thunderbird Arena, and the Canada Hockey Place.

For another taste of the Winter Olympics before or after the games, the Whistler Mountain Tour is an excellent choice. This guided tour takes visitors to Whistler, British Columbia, which will play host to many of the athletic events of the games. Sites on this tour include Howe Sound, Horseshoe Bay, Blackcomb Mountains, and Shannon Falls. Guests also have the opportunity to shop at Whistler Village. This tour does not focus on Olympic sites, but you will certainly be able to see the same gorgeous scenes that the Olympians will see in February.

Even if you will not be able to make it to Vancouver for the Olympic Games, this beautiful city still offers many options for a gold medal worthy vacation!
