A Day of Natural Wonders

If you enjoy natural history you should spend the day taking tours of the local caves! There are two guided tours that are incredibly popular with visitors, and your family is sure to enjoy them, too. The first tour is located at The Sequoyah Caverns and Ellis Homestead. Check out the homestead before the tour begins and you’ll have the chance to mine your own gems. The guided cave tour leads you through Looking Glass Cave where you will see a variety of rock formations and hundreds of reflection pools.

Once you’ve toured Sequoyah Caverns, head over to Crystal Palace Cave for a guided tour that will lead you through the front quarter-mile of Crystal Palace. Your knowledgeable guide will point out the interesting formations around the cave as well as factoids about Crystal Cave. There is plenty to see on this tour, and your family will see it all. Chattanooga Nature Center

If your family enjoys nature but the idea of walking around underground isn’t appealing, then the Chattanooga Nature Center is the place for you. Situated in the countryside of Lookout Mountain, the Nature Center is home to more than 30 native species of animals ranging from turtles to wolves. Spends some time on the 1,400-foot boardwalk and you’re sure to see them all. Also be sure to stop in at the ecologically-engineered constructed wetland and the George S. Bryan Tree House. The Nature Center also has several beautiful gardens for your family to explore. Don’t miss this natural slice of Chattanooga.

Blue Moon Cruises

If you’re planning on visiting Chattanooga with the family, this is a must-see tour. Blue Moon Cruises offers a guided tour through the Tennessee River Gorge that the whole family will love. You will see local inhabitants in their natural setting, including hawks, eagles and raccoons.
