San Diego stands as a large metropolis and strong-hold for our military, but amidst the booming advances of society travelers can still find a variety of intriguing natural sights - even in the heart of the city itself! From the San Diego Zoo’s unique Wild Animal Park to the zoological attraction/theme park that is SeaWorld, travelers will be greeted with a plethora of interactive options that will help showcase not only the wildlife of the San Diego area, but wildlife from around the world.

San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is known around the world, and for good reason. Over 800 species of animal call the zoo home, with numerous exotic animals ranging from Komodo dragons to giant pandas being amidst the zoo’s inhabitants. Of course, the animals aren’t the only draw to the zoo; in fact, the exhibits the animals call home often take center stage right alongside the critters. Whether trekking through the Monkey Trails and and Forest Tales or exploring the Polar Bear Plunge, there’s something for one and all waiting at the San Diego Zoo.

San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park

If you’d truly like to feel as if you’re exploring animals in the wild, then the San Diego Zoo’s sister-attraction, the Wild Animal Park, may be just the thing for you. Though the Wild Animal Park is home to half the species as the San Diego Zoo, the Wild Animal Park houses its animals in completely natural habitats, allowing many of the animals the chance to live and interact with one another. Numerous regions including deserts, steppes, wetlands, scrublands and savannas are all represented, providing visitors a look into natural scenes from around the world.

SeaWorld

SeaWorld offers an encompassing look at marine wildlife through a variety of exhibits and hands-on interactions for a day that can educate and entertain the entire family. Whether studying natural predators such as sharks and eels up-close, petting a dolphin or cheering on Shamu and company as they perform amazing feats of agility, there are a variety of ways to spend your day at SeaWorld. And aside from the zoological attractions, travelers will find a select few theme park rides such as the Shipwreck Rapids for a varied day of entertainment
