Add a Splash of Jazz to Your San Antonio Vacation
This late September, from the 20st through the 21st, San Antonio’s Travis Park will be hosting Jazz’SAlive festival. This annual event offers locals and visitors alike three days of varying jazz. And while the Gala event on Friday and Champagne Brunch on Sunday do require tickets, the outdoor performances in Travis Park on Saturday and Sunday are free to the public. A mixture of both local and national acts is set for the event. Past acts of the Jazz’SAlive festival have included such notable names as Lara & Reyes, Bobby Caldwell and Wayne Shorter.
Just a couple streets southwest of Travis Park visitors will find The Alamo, though if you’re looking for a complete glance into the mission history of San Antonio you’ll definitely want to look into the Highlights Tour. Along this informative view of San Antonio you’ll travel to a number of missions including Mission Conception, Mission San Jose, San Fernando Cathedral and, of course, the Alamo. Along the journey your knowledgeable tour guide will add depth to the experience by offering unique insight into the various missions and buildings visited.
For those that plan on spending every last second soaking up the sounds of Jazz’SAlive, you’ll definitely need energy to keep up with the full day of jazz. Thankfully, the Hard Rock Cafe has set up shop just a few streets south of Travis Park for a filling and unique dining experience that is sure to compliment Jazz’SAlive. Part restaurant, part rock n’ roll museum: the Hard Rock Cafe provides a happening atmosphere complete with an overload of musical memorabilia with an equally impressive offering of dining options. And with its proximity to Travis Park it will be no problem to take a quick break from the festivities to enjoy a great meal.
