It is time for Silver Dollar City’s annual Southern Gospel Picnic Days. Beginning on August 27 and running to September 7, this festival features hundreds of Southern Gospel performances, traditional Southern food, and all of the great rides and attractions you love at Silver Dollar City.
The highlight of this festival is the many Southern Gospel performers that are scheduled to appear. Guests include the Dove Brothers, Mike and Kelly Bowling, Jeff and Sherri Easter, and the Isaacs. Performances are scheduled daily, so there will always be someone to see.
Guests can also catch performances at Southern Gospel Nights at Echo Hollow. Concerts begin at 6 p.m. nightly in the Echo Hollow Amphitheater. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 6. Guests scheduled to perform these special concerts include The Ball Brothers, Mark Trammel Trio, and the Kingsmen.
In addition to attending performances during the day, guests can also enjoy some delicious traditional Southern cuisine. At “Chicken ‘n Fixins” buffet, guests can find Southern classics like smoked pulled pork, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, hot rolls, and fried chicken. Chicken ‘n Fixins is located in Molly’s Mill.
Another special activity during this festival is the Culinary and Craft School. The culinary school will be providing demonstrations and lessons on how to make dishes like grits, black-eyed peas, and classic casseroles. A small fee does apply for the culinary classes.
In addition to all of this, Silver Dollar City still has the thrilling rides and entertaining attractions that visitors love. Those who love big roller coasters will enjoy Wildfire, which offers multiple loops, and the PowderKeg. Silver Dollar City also has many family-friendly rides and attractions for smaller visitors. Silver Dollar City is also a great spot for shopping. From Christmas stores to traditional hand-crafted wood workings, any visitor can find something to enjoy.
Until Labor Day, visitors can also buy the “Play and Splash” ticket for admission to both Silver Dollar City and its sister water park, White Water. The combo ticket is good for two out of three consecutive days. White Water boasts towering slides on Kanai Towers, fun tube rides, a wave pool, and a lazy river. White Water is only open until Labor Day, however, so act now to get your tickets!
