Celebrate Classic Music in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

Although Memphis is probably the most well-known destination for Elvis festivals and celebrations, Pigeon Forge, TN is another city that honors the life and music of Elvis, as well as being a great musical destination.

The Annual Elvis Festivalwill be taking place at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN on August 16. The Memories Theater features Elvis tribute concerts year round, but they set aside a day to really celebrate and honor Elvis’ contribution to American music and film. The event features noted Elvis tribute artist Lou Vuto. The special theme of this year’s tribute is the “’68 Comeback Special.” In addition to the great music of Elvis and the performance of Lou Vuto, Memories will be hosting special events throughout the day in honor of Elvis.

For more classic music, check out Country Tonite. This theater offers shows that bring the best of classics and modern hits to the stage, combined with hilarious comedy routines. Music genres range from Contemporary Christian hits to country classics and patriotic tunes. This show is appropriate for all ages, and visitors from all around the country love this show, and it is a perennial favorite in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area.

If you would rather bring your instruments and make your own music, plan on joining in on the Jammin’ at the Old Mill Village in Pigeon Forge, taking place August 8-9. Old Mill Village is a historic area of Pigeon Forge that features the 170-year-old mill and many shops, restaurants, and attractions. The Old Mill Pottery House is where much of the jamming will take place. You can bring your guitar, mandolin, banjo, accordion—any musical instrument you want—and join in on the fun at this event.
