For more than 75 years, country music star’s dreams have come true on the Grand Ole Opry stage. The Opry house hosts 3 unique shows each week and no two shows are alike! By announcing new artists up until show time, audience members could be surprised by Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, or Trace Adkins making an appearance. You may even get to see a new artist make their debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage to watch as they step into the “circle” to make their dreams come true. The circle is a six-foot piece of stage that was cut from the Ryman Auditorium stage when they opened the new Grand Ole Opry in 1974. It represents the same spot where historic performers Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Hank Williams debuted. A trip to the country music capital, Nashville, would not be complete without a trip to the Grand Ole Opry house! Want to know when your favorite country stars will be at the Opry? On our website you can sign up to receive an e-mail newsletter for each of your favorite artists. For ticket prices, schedules, and information about each country artist, visit this link.
Animals from all over the world call the Nashville Zoo their home. Whether you’re interested in seeing mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, or fish, the Nashville Zoo has many species in each category to fascinate and entertain visitors. Recently the zoo family welcomed an 18-month old Somali giraffe named Layla to their family after having suffered through the loss of seven-year-old Savannah and her unborn calf the year before. Layla is the Nashville Zoo’s first Somali giraffe which is the most common species seen in zoos. One of the zoo’s most-visited habitats is the Flamingo Lagoon, a beautiful oasis of waterways that features a flock of 30 Caribbean flamingos. These gorgeous birds are truly a sight to behold. The zoo’s Caribbean flock features the largest and most brightly colored flamingos of the species. Visitors also won’t want to miss The Unseen World habitat featuring 75 species of reptiles, The Meerkat Exhibit, and The Hyacinth Macaw Exhibit featuring breathtaking macaws from all over the world.
